Many people who are depressed find it hard to open up and talk about their problems or to accept help from others. This can be a real danger as this can lead in some cases to suicidal feelings as there is no outlet for the pain and suffering. Attempts at suicide are not just ways of trying to get attention and should be treated seriously at all times. This can be seen as a cry for help as such but this still needs to be heard and addressed.
If someone is suffering with suicidal thoughts and depression, this will require professional help. This can be recognised by the following types of issues that people might be facing:
- Divorce or bereavement with continuing depression
- Men – often more likely to be successful when they try to commit suicide
There can of course be many other reasons – these are just examples. In any case, this type of depression must be dealt with – and there are various different types of treatment available, which should be suitable for everyone. Contact your GP or The Samaritans to discuss further if you are feeling this way.
