Unhappiness can be an all encompassing feeling. This may relate to specific circumstances in our lives such as relationships, career, finances or any number of other factors. Even small things can push us over towards feelings of unhappiness, despite some positive factors in our lives. Feeling unhappy can be a result of low self esteem and the general feeling of discontent with ourselves or our life circumstances. This can be linked to feeling out of control and unable to make any positive changes.
Low self esteem can also result in a lack of assertiveness. This again is linked to the feeling of being powerless to go after the things we want in life or to challenge the things we don’t want, need or like. This can be a frustrating situation leaving us feeling ashamed at not being able to say ‘no’ to something you don’t want to do for example.
Boosting our self esteem can help improve our overall feeling of happiness and satisfaction. It can also make us feel more assertive and can empower us to make positive changes in our lives and be proud of our achievements.
